How to clean a CVVT Solenoid.

One of our customers was experiencing frequent check engine lights (CEL) due to a clogged CVVT Solenoid.

The vehicle was a Tucson JM 2.0i with over 140k miles.  A history of low quality oil (dealer supplied) had taken its toll and the CVVT Solenoid would malfunction creating engine running problems and engine warning lights.

The customer added Oilsyn’s Ester-based Power Cleaner to the the engine oil and the problem disappeared within 500 miles of normal driving.  No more engine running difficulties or CELs.

 

2018 Audi RS3 Saloon Before & After Dyno Test with Hybrogen

Vehicle: Standard 2018 RS3 Saloon with 1721 miles and engine fully run in.

Settings: Dynamic mode enabled and traction control disabled. Standard OEM Pirelli Tyres (staggered configuration) and standard tyre pressures.

Dyno: AWD Dyno Dynamics.

With 2 base runs completed and engine fully up to operating temperature a 3rd and final run was completed and recorded.

Oilsyn Hybrogen Road was added with a full tank of fuel at a ratio of 3,000:1. The vehicle was driven normally for 2 weeks and approximately 300 miles.

A retest was then carried out on the same dyno with the same operator and similar climatic conditions. Again, 2 base runs first, engine up to full operating temperature and a final 3rd run recorded.
